CW celeb look-alikes: Gossip Girl’s Nate and…

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Gossip Girl returns Monday with the first of five explosive new episodes, as the producers plan to ratchet up the drama level.  Among those with unexpected plot twists are “Nate Archibald,” played by Chace Crawford.  The 22-year-old’s looks have been compared with Idol rocker David Cook, among others…but he’s a near-ringer for actor Ian Somerhalder, whose rise to fame began on the WBNX summer series Young Americans.  In other Crawford family news, Chace’s sister, Candice, is the reigning Miss Missouri and finished among the Top 10 finalists in last week’s Miss USA pageant.  Check out her photos here; she’s stunning.

Stargate’s Jason Momoa dreads those dreads

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

210×149_momoa.jpgMoviegoers who flocked to see 10,000 B.C. this past weekend had to be doing double-takes, thinking the film’s leading caveman, Steven Strait, was actually Jason Momoa from Stargate: Atlantis. It’s pretty hard to tell them apart—though it might be easier now that Jason’s big secret is out: he recently lopped off his trademark dreadlocks! The 6′5″ half-Hawaiian joined the WBNX sci-fi hit early in Season 2 as alien warrior “Ronon Dex” and has developed a cult-like fanbase of admirers. Jason’s character is known for being dark and serious, but those who’ve met the 28-year-old star at conventions say he’s extremely personable and down-to-earth. (He even lists his mom as his role model, and Scooby Doo as his favorite cartoon character.) The 6-lbs. of dreads had to go because their weight was causing Jason headaches and even whiplash during his many martial arts scenes. He presented the heavy hair locks to Stargate’s makeup crew in case they want to sew them on for shooting future episodes. While the unusual flailing hair is sort of a “character” in its own right, the show’s executive producer says the dreads will be reattached prior to the Season 5 premiere for continuity, but beyond that the decision will be Jason’s. Off-camera, the former Baywatch lifeguard is an accomplished artist who’s had showings in both Hawaii and Australia. He and actress Lisa Bonet (The Cosby Show) welcomed their first child together last year, Lola Iolani Momoa. That’s one kid destined for some long, tight braids.

Celebrity Look-Alikes: OTH’s Victoria and…

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

210×149_zuniga.jpgI think we can all safely agree that new fashion tycoon Brooke Davis grew up with “mother issues.” Never seen prior to this Season 5 leap year on One Tree Hill, Victoria apparently has great business acumen, but lacks any semblance of parenting skills.  Daphne Zuniga returns to the drama next Tuesday, and will surely offend someone within her first moments on screen.  It’s one of those juicy villainous roles that actresses love.  Off-camera, she and Sophia Bush bonded immediately and are great friends—easily passing for mother and daughter.  However, we’ve found an actress that Daphne really resembles: Sarah Lancaster!  Fans of Everwood will remember her as Ephram’s one-time girlfriend “Madison.”  Whaddaya think, are they a match?

Separated at Birth, Vol. 1: Blair Waldorf and…

Leighton & MinkaAre you good at spotting celebrity look-alikes?  It happens to me so often, I’m beginning to think we all have a twin walking around somewhere.  I’ve compiled a few pretty good dead-ringer photos to space out here in the blog—and also see if you have any doppelganger suggestions of your own.  There’s little doubt that the gorgeous Leighton Meester (Blair on Gossip Girl) could be sisters with Minka Kelly (Lyla on Friday Night Lights), is there?  Our favorite prep school socialites are back at work, with five new episodes set to premiere on Monday, April 21.
