Coincidentally, both Tyra and Martha have elected to cease their broadcasts this fall. Here are the categories they’ll compete in during the 37th annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 27:

Okay, so whose brand of justice do you prefer, Judge Marilyn Milian or Judge Penny Brown Reynolds? Their two WBNX courtroom shows will battle head-to-head for Outstanding Legal Drama at the 36th annual Daytime Emmy Awards—to be shown live, Sunday, August 30 on The CW. This is the second consecutive nomination for The People’s Court and the first for Family Court with Judge Penny. The Martha Stewart Show also garnered four nods: Outstanding Lifestyle Program, Decoration in a Culinary Series, Set Design and Technical Direction; while The Tyra Banks Show will vie for five statuettes: Outstanding Informative Talk Show, Hairstyling, Makeup, Lighting Direction, and Multi-Camera Editing. CW animated dramas Legion of Super Heroes, Ben 10: Alien Force, and The Batman were nominated in categories for Sound Editing & Mixing. Congrats to the four daytime stars for this well-deserved recognition. And, incidentally, Judge Milian offers some helpful legal advice on 21 common topics.
You’ve seen his face on TV and in films for over four decades—but starring in what? Ed Begley, Jr. has been a Hollywood chameleon, the type of character actor who is memorable, yet easily transitions from role to role. WBNX fans may recall him as Hank, the doctor who married Eric Camden’s sister, Julie, while appearing in 16 episodes of 7th Heaven. Or maybe his five-week arc as Rev. Belknap on Jack & Bobby. Most recently, he was seen on The CW as Cyrus O’Dell, the dean of Hearst College who was murdered on Veronica Mars. Ed and his wife, Rachelle Carson, are also semi-experts on “eco/green living,” and he’ll be speaking at the
Television’s preeminent do-it-yourself guru has a brand new home. Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford premieres this Sunday morning on WBNX, and we’re thrilled to welcome this informative series. Danny has been in the construction/remodeling business for 30 years, as well as sharing helpful insights through hundreds of appearances on both The Early Show and Weather Channel over the past decade. In the same vein as Bob Vila, Danny offers viewers easy, step-by-step instruction on virtually every project a homeowner could undertake—including lawn and garden. Now in its 11th season and seen on more than 200 stations nationwide, the show was nominated for a Daytime Emmy earlier this year. Today’s Homeowner is based in Mobile, Alabama, and an interesting feature coming up in 2009 will trace the city’s relocation and restoration of baseball legend Hank Aaron’s childhood home. Between Martha Stewart and Danny Lipford, Clevelanders now have access to all the expert lifestyle advice they may ever need.
She’s the master of details and organization, so it naturally follows that Martha Stewart would have the most informative, helpful webpage among our many shows. Each week, you can see at a glance who will be guest-starring on her daily programs, along with the dishes they’ll prepare and other intriguing crafts or featured activities. It’s always fun to watch Hollywood actors in a kitchen setting with the ultimate hostess. Jennifer Garner, for one, is a huge fan of Martha—and was thrilled to cook with her idol; and last week Melora Hardin (The Office) had a blast baking cookies and discussing comedy. Each recipe used on the show is also available on Martha’s WBNX webpage, where you’ll also notice a special “tip of the day.” For those who wish to delve further into Martha’s pantry, she’s releasing a new book on Oct. 21 entitled Martha Stewart’s Cooking School: Lessons and Recipes for the Home Cook.
