Larry Joe Campbell

Andy

Larry Joe Campbell thrives on making people laugh, and laugh they do at his portrayal of the temperamental yet sensitive brother-in-law, Andy, on the popular sitcom According to Jim.

Recently Campbell revisited his comedy roots with his one-man show, Terry vs. The Towel Lady, at the Second City Studio Theatre in Hollywood. Terry, which traces the history of a somewhat lackluster outcast, showcased Campbell's versatility with a wide variety of characters and his perfect comedic timing.

Campbell's first play was Rest Assured in which he played an Italian butcher named Luigi Lanconi. His dad spray-painted his hair black and Larry put an “a” after everya worda. This should've cemented his decision to go into sports medicine, but instead, he found himself signing up for four theatrical classes at Central Michigan University. He graduated with a BAA in theater and went on to a Masters in theater at Wayne State University.

His knack for comedy eventually landed him with the Second City troupe in Detroit. It was while he was performing with Second City in 1998 that Bob Saget came out and improvised with the troupe. A week later, Saget's manager flew to Detroit to watch the group and ended up signing Campbell on the spot. Recently Campbell and his other Detroit Second City alums have started up The 313, an improv group currently performing at The Second City in L.A.

Campbell's television credits include Geena, Suddenly Susan, Friends, Stark Raving Mad and The Trouble with Normal. He appeared in the feature One Half Gone and Wedding Crashers and appeared in Jimminy Glick in La La Land and Showtime. Most recently, Campbell co-starred in the independent comedy/horror film Drive Through.

A self-proclaimed sports nut, Campbell hasn't forgotten his Michigan roots and is still a big fan of Detroit's sports teams. He currently resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Peggy, and their five children, Gabriella, Nathan, twins Madelyn and Maxwell, and Lydia.
