David Ramsey stars as Diggle, Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) former military turned tough-as-nails bodyguard hired by Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson) to keep an eye on her son, in The CW’s Arrow.
Best known for portraying Anton Briggs in the hit series Dexter, Ramsey was most recently seen recurring as Mayor Carter Poole in Blue Bloods. Prior to this, Ramsey starred opposite Jimmy Smits in the series Outlaw.
On the feature side, Ramsey was last seen starring in the Rodrigo Garcia directed film Mother and Child, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics. David’s character, Joseph, is trying to adopt a child with his wife Lucy, played by Kerry Washington. In addition, Ramsey stars in the political satire Nailed, opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel, playing Representative Harshtone.
Additional film credits include a supporting role in Pay it Forward opposite Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt, The Nutty Professor alongside Eddie Murphy and in Con Air with Nicholas Cage and John Cusack.
Ramsey’s incomparable versatility was showcased in his starring role as Mohammed Ali in the television biopic Ali: An American Hero, where he received rave reviews for his portrayal of the self proclaimed "greatest fighter of all time." Ramsey also starred as the title role in Resurrection: The J.R. Richards Story. The film depicts the life of famed Houston Astros fastball pitcher J.R. Richards.
His talent has landed him recurring roles on a number of television series, including Hollywood Residential, Wildfire, Ghost Whisperer and Huff.
Born and raised in Detroit, Ramsey was bitten by the acting bug while performing in a church play. He later attended Wayne State University’s Fine Arts Program, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. In his spare time, Ramsey is an avid practitioner of the martial art founded by Bruce Lee, Jeet Kune Do. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two dogs.
