Dennis Murphy, winner of five national Emmy awards for excellence in news reporting, has been a Dateline correspondent since 1994. Murphy is seen most often covering true-crime stories for the Friday night editions of Dateline. In recent years, Murphy has covered everything from the Casey Anthony case, the Italian murder trial of American exchange student Amanda Knox, and the Versace shooting in Miami Beach to name a few. Murphy's non-crime coverage has ranged from a Royal Wedding profile of Kate Middleton, to the death of Osama bin Laden, to the plight of the children of migrant workers. Murphy was awarded an Emmy for team coverage of the ditching of the US Airways flight in the Hudson River and a prestigious duPont Columbia award for his reporting on Hurricane Katrina.
