Justin Baldoni

as Rafael Solano

In The CW’s Golden Globe nominated comedy series Jane The Virgin, Justin Baldoni stars as Rafael, the rich, hotel owner who has a complicated relationship with baby mama Jane (Gina Rodriguez). To make matters even more difficult, Rafael also has twins with his ex-wife Petra (Yael Grobglas).

Baldoni’s spectacular performance in  Jane The Virgin  recently earned him a 2015 Imagen Award nomination for  Best Supporting Actor.  Further, the onscreen chemistry between Baldoni’s Rafael and Rodriguez’s Jane garnered them 2015 and 2016 Teen Choice Award nominations for #ChoiceLipLock. The show itself continues to receive numerous nominations and build visibility and recognition among both fans and critics.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Medford, Oregon, Baldoni grew up wanting to direct.  In 2004, he won guest starring roles on television series such as  The Young and the RestlessCharmed  and  The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,  as well as a series regular role on  Everwood,  that had him starting to think about a life in front of the camera.  At the same time, he was on the path to success as a commercial and music video director.

This prompted Baldoni to start his own production company, Wayfarer Entertainment. Wayfarer Entertainment is a digital film and television production company focused on what he calls  Chocolate Covered Broccoli, celebrating and elevating the human spirit through socially conscious and inspirational media.  That focus has served Baldoni well.  In 2012, he created the Award-Winning web-series  My Last Days,  celebrating the lives and legacy of the terminally ill.  The first season garnered 30 million views and to date has helped raised over one-million dollars for various charitable foundations and individual families.  The second season of  My Last Days  broadcast aired on The CW in August 2016 in conjunction with the network’s new digital vertical, co-created by Baldoni and Wayfarer, CWGOOD, which highlights the causes that CW stars and fans care about with content that will both entertain and inspire.  The series has already been picked up for a third season and past episodes can be viewed online at CWTV.com(http://www.cwtv.com/shows/my-last-days/).

Additionally, Baldoni is slated to produce and direct his first feature film, based on the Zach Sobiech story currently titled  Clouds,  for Warner Bros. Studios, as well as other television and film projects in development at various networks and studios.

As a positive influence in media and rooted in a faith that believes in being of service to mankind, Baldoni has been invited to share his views on compassion with His Holiness The Dalai Lama as part of the Youth Leadership Panel on the Significance of Education in Advancing Universal Human Values. He also currently travels the country speaking about his take on the future of the entertainment industry and content creation spreading the message of making one’s work a form of service.

Baldoni believes that the only reason to have a platform is to use it for good. In 2014 he started the first annual Carnival of Love with a mission to improve the way the community views and interacts with those experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles. The Carnival has since become one of LA’s fastest growing annual volunteer events with over 2,000 individuals showing up to be of service on Skid Row to over 4,000 homeless. To support his work on Skid Row, he has since started the Wayfarer Foundation which supports his work with breaking the cycle of homelessness and supporting individuals facing terminal illness.

As an outspoken feminist, recently Baldoni has been doubling down on his efforts to start a dialogue with men to redefine masculinity. He is currently shooting his passion project - a conversation series with celebrity men and experts, exploring all aspects of masculinity and what it really mans to be a man today.  He will be one of the first 10 men profiled by the Makers series in November and hopes that his work in this space will eventually give men permission to break free of the societal norms and pressures placed on them and will lead to a new generation of men who are proud to empower women. Baldoni believes he has a responsibility as a man born into privilege to speak up for those who haven't been afforded that luxury.

When he is able, Baldoni travels the country speaking to youth on gender equality, redefining masculinity and making his work a form of service to humanity.

Baldoni currently resides in Los Angeles with his family; wife Emily, baby daughter Maiya, and a baby boy coming in October.
