Mӓdchen Amick stars as Alice Cooper, editor of Riverdale’s local newspaper and overbearing mother to Betty, in The CW’s new midseason drama Riverdale.
At the age of 16, Amick dropped out of school with her parents’ blessing and moved to Los Angeles where she found work in modeling, music videos and guest starring roles. Soon after moving to Los Angeles, director David Lynch, who played a pivotal role in her development as an actress, cast her in the cult classic series Twin Peaks. Amick will reprise her role in the highly anticipated re-boot, which is scheduled for 2017.
A highlight of Amick’s career came in the feature film Dream Lover, in which she co-starred with James Spader. The late Roger Ebert called her performance “perfect” and that he expected to “see more great things from this talented actress.”
Amick has since worked on a myriad of projects on both the big and small screen. Her past film credits include Steven King’s Sleepwalkers, Trapped in Paradise opposite Nicholas Cage, Scenes of the Crime with Jeff Bridges, and Priest, opposite Paul Bettany and Christopher Plummer. Her television credits include Witches of East End, American Horror Story, Longmire, Californication, Damages, Gossip Girl, ER and Mad Men.
Amick resides in California and is married with two children.
