In The CW’s new drama series The Carrie Diaries, Matt Letscher stars as Tom Bradshaw, Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) and Dorrit’s (Stefania Owen) handsome father, who is trying to help his two young daughters navigate their daily lives since their mother’s death.
Letscher began his acting career on stage, making his professional debut at actor Jeff Daniels’ Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea, Michigan, in The Tropical Pickle. He next joined the cast of Turner Films’ Civil War epic, Gettysburg.
Living in Los Angeles since 1993, Letscher has steadily built an extensive and diverse resume working in film, television and theater. His film credits include Straight-Jacket, Identity, Gods and Generals, Madison, Super Sucker, Lovelife, The Mask of Zorro and Alan Ball’s Towelhead, opposite Toni Collette. Next, he will be seen opposite Amy Adams in a yet-to-be-titled feature directed by Spike Jonze, as well as the upcoming Atom Egoyan feature, Devil’s Knot, based on the West Memphis Three murders.
Letscher’s television work includes series regular roles on Living in Captivity, Almost Perfect and Eli Stone, as well as starring roles in King of Texas, The Beach Boys: An America Family and Jackie, Ethel, and Joan: Women of Camelot. He also has had recurring roles on Scandal, Bent, The New Adventures of Old Christine, The West Wing, Joey, NYPD Blue, Criminal Minds, Brothers & Sisters and Entourage.
On stage, Letscher has appeared on Broadway in The Rivals, at Lincoln Center and Neil Simon’s Proposals. He has recently been working once again with the Purple Rose Theater, this time as a playwright and director on the premiere of his farce, Sea of Fools.
He has also appeared in the South Coast Repertoire production, In The Garden.
