01: Major Disturbance
Unbeknownst to Carrie, Doug volunteers to watch Major while Deacon and Kelly go on vacation. But what Doug thinks are good-natured attempts to bond with Major, end up causing nightmares.
02: Brace Yourself
After Spence loses his job, Kelly and Deacon hire him to help around the house, much to the dismay of Danny. Meanwhile, Carrie and Doug must deal with Arthur’s desire to change his looks after Major draws an unflattering picture of him.
03: Moxie Moron
When Doug and Deacon’s boss, O’Boyle, is sent to rehab, Deacon takes over as supervisor. But things quickly go downhill when Doug decides he would also like to be supervisor. Carrie has job woes of her own after an outburst over a less than ideal reward from her boss leaves her questioning her job security.
04: Ruff Goin’
Carrie and Doug rescue a dog from the parking lot of the grocery store and decide to keep it rather than take it to the shelter. However their charity quickly runs out when they realize the dog is a dud.
05: Mama Cast
After the Heffernan’s receive a tax refund check, Doug decides to invest in an ice cream truck but quickly realizes he isn’t the only ice cream man in town. Meanwhile, Carrie has a chance to prove herself to Mr. Kaufman by showing some model homes; however, her plans are derailed when she reluctantly agrees to play the role of the “mother” in a model home staging after one of the professional actors fails to show.
06: Home Cheapo
Doug and Carrie devise a penny-pinching plan after Deacon and Kelly buy a weekend home by the lake.
07: Affair Trade
Doug receives seductive messages from a woman who had a fling with another “Doug Heffernan” in the Hamptons. Doug tries to clear things up, but gets caught up in the moment. When Doug pours his heart out to Carrie, she becomes curious about the other “Doug Heffernan.”
08: Offensive Fowl
Doug decides to become a vegetarian after an incident with a chicken. At first Carrie thinks it is a good idea, but the fast food that he holds so near and dear doesn’t go down without a fight. Meanwhile, Carrie’s determination to impress Mr. Kaufman with her remarkable literary skills leads her to rely on Doug in a different way than usual.
09: Mild Bunch
Doug attends his high school reunion hoping to relive the good ole days but gets more than he bargained for when he reunites with an old friend. Back at home, Carrie and Arthur’s attempts at a father/daughter movie night go from golden to ghastly.
10: Manhattan Project
Doug and Carrie get a blast from the past when an apartment in Manhattan they applied for after they were first married becomes available. Doug appeals to Carrie’s sense of family after she expresses interest in moving to Manhattan.
11: Single Spaced
As Doug struggles to keep the house in order, Carrie decides to help by employing an unconventional cleaning method. They reach a monumental decision after Doug’s parents drop in for a surprise visit.
12: China Syndrome, Part 1
Arthur’s wedding ceremony has everyone buzzing, but Doug is down in the dumps until a surprise from Carrie has the Heffernan’s considering a life-changing leap of faith. When Ava St. Clair comes down with a sudden case of cold feet, will Spence’s mom, Veronica, become the next in line to fill the shoes of Mrs. Spooner?
13: China Syndrome, Part 2
As Deacon toasts the new Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Spooner, Danny and his new girlfriend ignite a case of revolving roommates. When a single and pregnant Holly returns and enters the fray, Danny realizes Spence is the one and only person he truly feels at home with. Meanwhile, after a post-nuptial race to China, Doug and Carrie have a mid-air heart to heart and realize that home is where the heart is. When the Heffernan’s greet their new daughter, they learn they may be welcoming another surprise addition to their rapidly expanding family.
