Flex Alexander

Mark "Flex" Washington

Flex Alexander stars as Mark “Flex” Washington, a single dad and former NBA star who radically changes his bachelor ways to embrace fatherhood when his teenage daughter moves in with him, on the comedy series One on One. For his role on the series, this charismatic leading man received two NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy.

Alexander was born and raised in the Bronx. For his first professional performance, he was paid $50 to break dance at a Bar Mitzvah. He eventually became a dancer and choreographer for the rap trio Salt 'N Pepa, and served as an assistant choreographer on the feature film New Jack City. In addition, Alexander continued to perform and choreograph cool moves for such recording stars as Queen Latifah, Toni Tony Tone, Heavy D and the Boys and Mary J. Blige. In 2005, Alexander earned an Image Award nomination as Outstanding Actor in a Television Movie, Miniseries or Dramatic Special, starring as Michael Jackson in the VH1 biopic Man in The Mirror.

On television, Alexander made appearances in Girlfriends, Total Security, Where I Live, New York Undercover, Brooklyn South and The Parkers, as well as the made-for-television movies Ice and Santa and Pete. He also led the cast of the comedy Homeboys in Outer Space. Alexander's feature film credits include City of Industry, The Sixth Man, Out Cold, Gas and Snakes on a Plane.

As a successful stand-up comedian, Alexander has headlined everywhere from the Uptown Comedy Club (a notoriously challenging club in Manhattan) to Stand Up New York, The Improv, Laugh Factory, Showtime at the Apollo, The Comic Strip and numerous comedy clubs and universities around the country.

A self-proclaimed “sports nut,” Alexander is always ready for a game of basketball. He is especially proud of the fact that he can dunk. What's more, he's an avid golfer who participates in as many as 10 charity tournaments a year.

Alexander attended the esteemed High School of Art and Design in Manhattan, majoring in Architecture, and loves to draw in his spare time. He currently resides in Los Angeles with wife, R & B artist Shanice and their two children.
