Winter Pet Tips
House Smarts with Lou Manfredini
This winter has been tough on pets. Too much ice melt on the ground can hurt your animal's paws. You see, there are several types out there that work on many different levels. Some specifically designed for use with pets, which in my opinion, is more of a marketing trick than it is scientific. If it has any type of ice melting capabilities then it will burn the paws of an animal. Now, our pets are resilient but with long winters where ice melting products have been repeatedly applied over the season a residual film can be left on the surfaces and irritate their paws. The answer is to use these ice melting products properly, meaning the right amount to keep ice at bay and you and your family on your feet and not on your backs. Have a damp towel by the door your pet enters and wipe down their paws every time they come in. It will help to neutralize any chemicals on their feet, and it will also help keep your floors a whole lot cleaner. Thanks for watching HouseSmarts and Enzo thanks you too. WOOF!
